Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Over the years, factors such as gravity, pregnancy, and nursing take their toll on women’s breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, breasts often lose their shape and firmness. As a result, they begin to sag. A mastopexy, or breast lift, is the surgical procedure to reshape and raise sagging breasts. Who better to perform a mastopexy (breast lift) than a board certified female plastic surgeon?

Results Will Last
The aging process cannot be stopped but the mastopexy should last at least 10 years unless there is significant weight change or pregnancy.

Recovery Process
If one is able to tolerate a few scars in order to be perky again then the recovery is relatively easy in that there is minimal discomfort.

Why have a mastopexy?

  • To lift the breasts to a higher position
  • To reduce the size of the areoloa, the lighter skin around the nipple
  • To remove excess skin from the breasts
  • To better fit into a bra
  • To have the option of not wearing a bra

The techniques for mastopexy surgery vary depending on a number of factors. There are two main techniques for a mastopexy or breast lift. In the first, an anchor-shaped incision follows the natural curve of the breast. This incision outlines the area from which breast skin is removed and defines the new location for the nipple. Sutures are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending down from the nipple, and along the crease of the breast. The second technique is the vertical mastopexy. Its incisions run around the areola and extend in a vertical line down from the nipple. The vertical technique avoids an incision along the natural crease of the breast.

During your consultation and examination, Dr. Sullivan will discuss the variables such as your age, the size and shape of your breasts, and the condition of your skin, which may affect the procedure.
